As we enter the holiday weekend, I wanted to take this opportunity to further explain our public health approach with summer in full swing.

First, I know you will join me in saying how thankful I am that all of our new COVID-19 cases are recovering well. Immediate contact tracing and increased access to test literally hundreds of people, has allowed us to help contain the potential pockets of spread and continue to refine our process for responding to this virus.

As we assess our public health approach, we regularly examine these four main metrics:

Transmission: caseload with an eye on potential surge.
Test: access and the ability to conduct PCR testing.
Trace: the ability to quickly and effectively contact trace.

(June 21, 2020) – San Miguel County, CO --- Public County Health Officials announced seven new COVID-19 cases today from tests that were performed on June 18 and 19. Four of these cases are related to two of the five cases announced earlier in the week. Individuals have been notified by Public Health and are in isolation, and contact tracing is in progress. Additional tests from June 18 and 19 are pending and will be announced as results come in. Since Friday, 120 test results have been received and the State Health Department has been contacting negative results to assist with the influx.

County Unveils New Dashboard of COVID-19 Info - PCR Testing Options Researched and Expanded

(April 22, 2020) -- San Miguel County, CO – County Public Health, working with county GIS (Geographic Information Systems), unveiled a new COVID-19 “dashboard” Wednesday, a visual display of relevant county and regional data and trends.

“We realized that our community could benefit from having access to user-friendly visuals of different data points to help stay informed,” Grace Franklin, County Public Health Director said.

The dashboard includes the total number of county COVID-19 cases and results from two types of PCR tests.…
