As a half-dozen skiers, planks slung over their shoulders, hiked past us up the ridge toward Telluride’s famed 13,320-foot Palmyra peak, my new friend Seth thrust his ski pole forward for emphasis and shouted, “Confidence!”
It was less an exhortation than an exclamation of discovery. Seth, a fortysomething attorney from Chicago…

Senior's, Telluride Ski Resort, Colorado
Located at the summit of Telluride’s highest point, Palmyra Peak, at 13,320 feet, Senior’s run is not for the faint hearted. Not only is it high atop the mountain, but you also have to hike along a narrow ridgeline to get there, meaning the challenge begins before you even arrive at the run. Once you’ve navigated your way to the tippy top, be sure to catch your breath before catapulting yourself between rocks down a 52-degree gully. After you survived this steep run, you’ll end up back in the Black Iron Bowl with the rest of civilization. You might need a nap or a stiff drink after crossing this off your bucket list.Photo courtesy of Telluride. CLICK HERE to read the entire…
Overall, the Telluride real estate market remains in great shape, despite coming in below a record-setting 2017 in most metrics. Notably, the in-town market is seeing record highs in list and sale price per square foot. This trend is likely due to multiple factors including a higher absorption rate in town as a finite supply is met with a persistent shift towards walkability and in-town lifestyle. This pattern is not specific to Telluride, as many ski communities are seeing similar increases in value relative to the convenience of in-town lifestyles, including Aspen. Another contributing factor to the escalation of price-per-square-foot in town is the availability of high-end new construction inventory.
Mountain Village is enjoying a period of high…

From the Telluride Daily Planet:
The Telluride Marshal’s Department presented to Town Council Tuesday its annual report, including details on crime in 2017. Chief Marshal James Kolar spent about 40 minutes discussing the facts in his report and answering questions that arose. Kolar led off the session by saying, “The Class A categories of offenses that constitute violent crime and property witnessed a decrease for the second year in a row, going from 124 incidents in 2016 to 102 in 2017, an 18 percent reduction.”
