Telluride Schools are known for exemplary K-12 programs and high student achievement. Outstanding opportunities for students include advanced placement courses, mentorships with community members, extensive technology experiences and outdoor education. Partnerships with the Telluride Ski and Golf Company provide students with a ski/snowboard physical education program (Ski PE) each winter. There is also a comprehensive co-curricular program that includes a wide range of academics and athletic activities for Telluride's students.
During the 2007-2008 school year, the Telluride Colorado School District boasted both Colorado Superintendent of the Year, Mary Rubadeau and representing Telluride High School, Colorado Teacher of the Year, Seth Berg, High School Math and Science Teacher.
Telluride Elementary School
As of the fall of 2008, Kindergarten, first and second grades each have four teachers and third grade has three teachers. All-day Kindergarten is available. A primary student's day includes art, physical education, music, technology, or library and is supported by numerous resources to address enrichment, English as a Second Language (ESL), or other needed learning support. Telluride Intermediate / Middle School
The Telluride Intermediate School, a separate building to Telluride High School, consists of fourth through sixth grades serving approximately 130 students. Telluride High School
Telluride High School is a public, four-year secondary school with an enrollment of 184 students in grades 9-12. Due to our open enrollment policy, students from surrounding areas choose Telluride High School for its reputation and record of academic excellence as well as its strong athletic programs.
Located at the entrance to the town of Telluride on 10.8 acres, the Telluride Middle and Telluride High School campus site was opened in November, 1995. In 2005, the Intermediate School and the 600 person capacity Palm Theatre were constructed. Telluride High School has a strong college-preparatory academic focus balanced with an education that reflects the interests, involvement, and profile of Telluride's community. The faculty consists of 18 full and part-time High School teachers, all certified as secondary teachers with credentials in their content areas. Telluride Mountain School
The Telluride Mountain School is a non-profit independent school offering a preschool through high school education, serving approximately 100 students from throughout the Telluride region. Preschool and lower school children follow a Montessori curriculum, which transitions into a traditional college preparatory curriculum. The school is organized into four divisions: Montessori at Mountain School: Preschool & Kindergarten; Lower School: Grades 1-4; Middle School: Grades 5-8; and Upper School: Grades 9-12.
